Inspired by her go-getter attitude and influential impression on others, I wanted to learn how Sophia Camille Collier built a passion for entrepreneurship to assist others in growing through her company, Social Flutter. On May 19, 2020 at 11 AM, I got the opportunity to interview the Arizona State University Senior who partnered with musician and producer Daniel Peter to create a company that will help others reach their marketing goals and full potential. Utilizing their client’s niche, Social Flutter is able to bring “real” and “organic” traffic to their clients media platforms, as well as build lasting connections with others within the same field.
Since an early age, Sophia Camille Collier has been confident with her skills in entrepreneurship. From selling lemonade on a street corner during Summer to becoming the CEO and co-founder of a booming company. At the age of 17, is when she really started to push herself and created a marketing agency. By helping local businesses and starting her own fashion company, she continued to find her true passion marketing. Collier claims that, “It always led back to marketing and I learned that it’s really about awareness. Bringing awareness to what products or services that you provide.”
In April 2020, Sophia was crowned Miss Nevada Earth USA and knows the importance of keeping up with important events. She tells me her number one piece of advice for clients is to “be specific when knowing your demographics”. Collier believes this is something you must know from the start otherwise it can seem “intangible” and can lead to a hard brand perspective. It can also result in a confusing variety of followers and a lack of confidence in picking who would make a good collaboration with you. “At Social Flutter we use a lot of analytics tools that help us in terms of understanding influencers…” Sophia states. “We would go in and be able to really target who the best influencer would be that fit that demographic.” Through Social Flutter they are able to easily connect and match them with one another to create effective content.
Before the interview I took my time to look deeper into the world of marketing and found the phrase “empathy mapping”. “Empathy mapping” can be defined as the way companies try to better understand what customers think, how they feel, what they say, and what actions they take. Collier says this is very similar to “customer profiling”, a term I have heard before but was not as familiar with. She found the biggest difference in the word empathy. Collier views the empathy as trying to understand who her client is, what their needs are, what their struggles are and how they are trying to grow. To sum, she likes to be able to get more personal with their client’s audience in order to give them the full experience.
Always keeping busy, she makes it a point to remember the people she works with. From the beginners to those who gain up to 3 million followers, she appreciates all of the work that they do together. Attracting people to their client is the main goal and Collier was able to give me a full rundown of how they splash their magic around. After helping with SEO (search engine optimization), they will really help to “optimize your website” and “push your brand”. What I loved hearing about Social Flutter is the time that the employees take to really get personal with their clients in order to understand their goals and who you want to engage with your product or page. “Making use of hashtags is a forsure way to bring the organic following that you are searching for,” Sophia insists. “You can also use partnerships to write articles in order to get others engaged,” Collier answers when I explained to her that I am trying to grow a blog.
In five years, Sophia hopes to continue being a public figure and entrepreneur, and she is already on her way up. She loves being able to advocate for causes like environmental awareness. When asked where she wants to be in the future she responds with, “Being able to give back to the community, do philanthropic endeavors and being able to do what I love, which is content and marketing; being able to continue to be the founder and CEO of my own company, and being able to help other brands and influencers grow on social media. Five to ten years from now, I see myself doing the same thing, just on a bigger scale.” Collier also hopes to expand her horizons and get into modeling for perfumes, exotic cars, and eventually connect with bigger artists like Post Malone.
Wishing her the best as she prepares for the National Pageant, Miss Earth USA, and in all her future successes. All of her beauty, intelligence and determination I can’t wait to see what strides Sophia Camille Collier takes in the near future.
