Fall is fast approaching and while this year's holidays are definitely going to be different, there are still plenty of ways to continue celebrating. From Fall traditions to Black Friday and possibly even Christmas, it looks like a majority of us will be trying to stay safe and spend the next few months inside our homes. Below is a list full of fun ideas you and your friends & family can do this year. Enjoy!
Make Caramel Apples: One of the best things about fall is caramel apples. I love eating them. Although, I have never made them. So this year I want to try and make them, more updates to come.
Social Distance Pumpkin Carving: I love pumpkin carving with my friends and family! The perfect way to do it this year is by keeping our distance. You can set up different stations outside for each person or each family, play some music and everyone can carve in safety.
Harry Potter Movie Weekend: There are 8 Harry Potter movies and they make for the perfect relaxing weekend. You can even make it a full party (even if it's just yourself) by making Harry Potter inspired treats, like Butterbeer.
Make Apple Cider: My ALL TIME FAVORITE tradition is making apple cider on the first day of Fall. I love the way it fills the house with a sweet smell, but most of all I love the taste and how it makes me feel! Adding some cinnamon sticks and orange peels really makes the fall taste flourish.
Create a pumpkin inspired recipe: When I was in the sixth grade I was inspired to make pumpkin cookies and now I make them every year for Thanksgiving. Using one of the most popular Fall flavors, pumpkin, create a recipe that speaks to your stomach and really get into it. Add in what you want and don't forget to be creative!
Disney Halloween Movie Marathon: If you're anything like me, Disney Halloween movies make you feel more nostalgic than anything. I love movies like "Halloweentown" and "Twitches". It reminds me of when I was little. Every once in a while, I also like to add in the Halloween episodes from my favorite Disney Shows.
Make a DIY Fall Wreath: I can't wait to do this one. Last Christmas my mom and I got creative and added a new wreath that we had decorated ourselves. It sparked my imagination and got me thinking of all the new decorations that can be added to our collection.
Go Star Gazing: You can do this in your own yard. Lay out a blanket, play some music, and just enjoy nature and all that the universe has to offer. It's a great way to relax.
Zoom Halloween Party: My friends and I have recently been trying to figure out how we are going to celebrate Halloween. Then it hit me. We can have a Zoom party. Everyone can still wear their costumes, you can plan games, and watch movies! The fun doesn't have to stop because you can't see each other in person.
Fall Photo Challenge/Scavenger Hunt: Since it's hard to be able to spend time with one another, I think it's important to remember that we can still experience life with each other. My friends and I created a list of everything we wanted to see over the season and decided to make it a competition. Each of us is purchasing a $5 gift card to wherever we want and whoever checks off the most items on the list by the final day gets the cards. More updates to come, but we are seriously excited.
Make Candy: I have always wanted to make candy, and since we will not be able to go and collect candy like normal this year, I want to try something new. As a person with diet restrictions, I have always had a little bit of trouble trying to find candy that tastes good and is vegetarian or vegan. I can't wait to learn to make it and never have that problem again!
Spa Day: A Fall spa day is perfect. you can use pumpkin to make a mask and paint your nails different fall colors. It's a great way to relax, feel refreshed, and come out looking glamorous!
Recipe Swap: This is a great idea if you want to have dinner or a date over Zoom. You can swap recipes with someone and as you are cooking the recipes you can face time. In a way, it will be like your loved one is cooking the meal for or with you.
I hope you all can use this list to help you have a more enjoyable Fall season. We are going through some very trying times so it's important to keep doing things that we would normally do or at least try and get a small feeling of normality.
