Hello Everyone! So, for my first post it only seemed fit to have it set in my favorite city! This is basically going to be a review of my time in New York during NYFW Fall 2019 and what I did (mostly ate) while in the Big Apple. I will also be sharing my experience as one of the models! A quick thank you to Art & Beauty Magazine and Beauty It's Everywhere for this mind-blowing experience and allowing me to have the chance of a lifetime! Read below for my day to day review of the breathtaking city and experiences and don't forget to comment and give me feedback! Always looking to improve and eager to see your thoughts.
Day 1:
After a night of no sleep, finishing homework, and packing at 2AM, we were able to take in some of the beautiful sights of my favorite city, and have a good nights sleep before the rest of our jam packed weekend. For the first night in this beautiful city, my mom and I decided to have a low key night by walking around the world trade center and going to Dinner at Eataly! I kept it simple with a magherita pizza and (pictured below) fried artichoke and crma toast! I couldn't think of a better way to enter the city, after a long and tiring day. Getting some food was definitely the right choice!
Day 2:
I didn't get to leave the hotel today, but the day was still full of amazing opportunities and adventures! It started early with check in, registration, and orientation. After all of the set up, I got ready for World Top Model preliminaries (I just couldn't help myself from competing when the opportunity came up). I wore my signature royal blue dress (pictured below) for the Red Carpet competition. For the Runway portion I went along with a black and white tweed suit, you can order and view at https://us.shein.com/Raw-Hem-Tweed-Jacket-Skirts-Set-p-792525-cat-1780.html. This suit is gorgeous and so classic. I ended up wearing the suit with a rose pink silk top and my favorite cream boots.I kept my jewelry simple, with a pair of sparkly earrings. (Also, pictured below, for the rest of the night I ended up switching the boots for my nude Chinese Laundry Tippy Tops and rainbow gold hoops- a great find at Nordstrom for $10) I had such a good time on stage and it really was an honor to be competing alongside some of the greats!. Although it was so different from a regular pageant stage, I didn't mind taking on the challenge and it was such a great experience! The day was long and hard but incredible, besides my lack of eating!
Day 3:
What a day! After our 7AM rehearsal, we moved into fittings and makeup and hair prep for the rest of the day. Our top model competition was first and I am so proud with the way I did! Out of 160 girls, I made top 45 and had the pleasure of earning the awards for Top Model Photogenic and Top Model Photoshoot ! At first, I was a little worried about entering the competition, because I new it would be against girls from all over the world. I even started doubting myself for the slightest moment. When I saw some of the other competitors' runway outfits and gowns, I was worried mine was not as elaborate or didn't have the model look the judges expected. I thought that they would start seeing me as too "Pageanty" ( I don't even know if that is a word, but it is now). I started to reminded myself, that I chose my outfits with care of how I wanted to be presented and how I wanted my personality to shine through what I was wearing! In the end I know I did my best and completely agree with the overall results! I am so happy for and proud of Pamela Lee Urbina! It was such an honor to even be a part of the same competition with the former Miss Global United States! After the competition, I had another fitting and then we went straight to the runway. I was able to walk a couple pieces for Estella Couture (Pictures to come soon). Estella Couture's designs were interesting pieces put together with fabrics from all over the world. She had all types of designs that really showed her unique style with lots of color and print to show her loud and captivating personality. My night ended with a drag show, some New York Pizza and some delicious and light ice cream in my favorite flavor, matcha green tea!
Day 4:
My post fashion show day was easy and breezy. I was able to spend some time with family, see the statue of liberty and head on down to New Jersey for some shopping and relaxing. I had the pleasure of meeting my cousin's dog, Bentley and he is so adorable. Not to mention, my aunt made me a great home-cooked meal! We got back to the hotel around 2AM after coming back on the subway. Overall it was a good day and the perfect day to end a successful weekend!
Day 5:
The last few hours spent in New York, were very relaxing. After sleeping in and recovering from the long night behind us, we checked out of the hotel room around 12pm and headed to the financial district for a quick lunch! We ended up eating lobster and crab rolls from Luke's (https://www.yelp.com/biz/lukes-lobster-fidi-new-york?hrid=Jv6rjUXWRxiXmtwFE_Luew). Their food was astounding to say the least and I can't wait to go back to New York! I always love the city and every second I spend within it!
